my daughters lap top (just over 12 months old) that she uses for Uni is bringing up an error message saying 601 internal battery needs changing.
How do I change it, I take it that is the little 2032 battery that keeps the clock running etc?
Is there anything special you have to do? Do you just pop it out and pop the new one in and turn it on?
I got a lithium one from woolies is is the same type just different maker is that ok?

As long as the battery number is the same you just remove and replace. Before you remove the battery make sure the laptop is connected to power.

thank you, so I dont have to reset BIOS or let charge the computer then let it run right down or anything fancy. Just pop one battery out and place the other in..... making sure the power cord is in and on.

You got it, just like a flashlight. Take out the old and put in the new. The reason I say to have the laptop powered is to insure that no setting are lost once you remove the internal (CMOS) battery. I have done it this way myself and never had a problem.

thanks I am very hesitant cause she has all her Uni assignments on it and if she loses them I am dead seeing she has to hand them all in next week.

Can someone be so kind to assist me with instructions how to remove the internal battery? Where to search the part number?
