HP finger print scanner

I recently purchased an HP Pavilion dm4-1060us with HP's Simple Pass finger print scanner.  The system accepts my finger print setup scans, but when I attempt to logon using the scanner it rarely accepts my finger print.

I've attempted the following:  rescanning finger prints into the system using the same and additional fingers,  running my finger over the sensor at different speeds and angles, and attempting to use both more and less of the finger.  Is this a common problem and is there a solution?

Re: HP finger print scanner

Hi, have you tried to apply the two drivers available for Windows 7 here.

Just select 32 or 64 bit.

Look under Keyboard,Mouse&Input Devices.

Re: HP finger print scanner

I have done that, but to no avail.  Thanks for the attempt.

Re: HP finger print scanner

My SimplePass icon stopped appearing on websites requiring logon.  It happened around the time I started using Norton.  Is there a connection?  Do you know a solution?  Thanks.

Re: HP finger print scanner

What laptop model (ie. dm4-1150ea) & operating system do you have.

Did you try removing Norton?

[ Edited ]

dm4-1265 dx with Windows 7.  I've tried deactivating nearly everything in Norton, but haven't uninstalled it, yet.  I was hoping there was a setting somewere that I could simply change.

Update:  I finally uninstalled Norton 360 (with reboot) then reinstalled it. That fixed my problem! It's working with IE9 fine.  Thanks!
