HP finger swipe

My HP finger swipe on my computer lights up and acknowledges my finger when I initially start up the computer or if I sign back into the computer after leaving it for a short period time. However, when I go to any of the websites that I have enrolled the finger swipe for it does not light up anymore or enter my password/username when I swipe my finger. Instead, a box with a green fingerprint shows up in the lefthand corner of my screen (as if it read it) but it only brings up the application's menu rather than entering my saved information. It has always worked fine in the past for the websites, but a few days ago it stopped. I have rebooted the computer several times since I noticed this and have checked more than website.
