Re: HP makes junk and doesn't stand by their inferior products!

This is the EXACT same problem I had with my dv92xx series. After dead ends with HP support, I took it to a non-HP affiliated computer guy who had seen the motherboard crash in several of these laptops and had been advising people away from HPs until it's fixed. Then I heard about the recall, but mine is JUST different enough not to be included. It's ridiculous. I have been unable to have a straight up conversation about this to anyone. Service has been a joke in this whole process, in fact, until I followed one of Support's suggestions I was at least able to use it in safe mode, but after doing what they said it completely died. I have since replaced that computer with a Dell and am done with HP. Which is a shame, I used to love the company and when I had a problem with an old laptop of theirs several years ago the customer service was amazing. Any ideas on how to let them know that they are losing long time customers (as well as these peoples' friends and families)? You'd think this would be important for them to know. As a mid-20s gadget geek I have many computers to go, and until things seriously change, none of them will be HPs.

The Teacher here is a malfunctioning HP/Compaq family product without any support from Brand owners ( 100% of HP/Compaq is made out of China).

Re: HP makes junk and doesn't stand by their inferior products!

They also lie, cost you money, and time running you around with no progress, they send inferior products then the ones they promiss. Tech support is the absolute worst, the home, and home office, and corporate office is impotent, and incompetent. Do yourself a favor, and save yourself time, money, and headaches, don't buy HP products!!!!!!!!!

Re: HP makes junk and doesn't stand by their inferior products!

So, my dv6 2000 is going back for the 2nd time, and I'm beginning to agree that HP doesn't make a very good product.  Out of curiousity, if you were going to switch to a different brand, what would it be?

Re: HP makes junk and doesn't stand by their inferior products!

Go for ASUS, MSI or Toshiba. These guys use different mainboards, I guess HP uses foxconn boards, which are all messed up. Check what mainboard they got. Secondly, opt for nvidia graphics chip if possible; ati sucks big time if you choose to install Linux at some stage.

Here's a back door number for Case managers in Canada. They speak English and get things done, but you'll need to get a case number in India first, then hang up and call [text removed for privacy] Regardless, I'll never buy any HP product again, too many problems! Asus is awesome for a desktop and Toshiba makes an outstanding laptop (we have 5)
