Petmeadow, welcome to the forum.

I suggest doing a destuctive System Recovery using either the discs that you made or the Recovery partition.  This should remove the viruses.  Then, install one of the free virus program, such as, AVG or Avast.  They will do a good job.  I have used them for years.  Be certain to backup your personal data before beginning.

Re: How do I get viruses off of my laptop without virus protection?

Hi:

If you have files you need to get off the HDD, you may want to download and burn the free Kapersky Rescue Disk 2010 to a CD.  This may eliminate the need for a system recovery.

This program will clean viruses and you don't even need to be booted into Windows. It will even connect you to the internet so it can download updates to the virus definition files.

I have used this several times to bail my friend's PC's out of trouble.

Then I recommend you follow the old_geekster's advice.

Most of us don't need to pay for virus/spyware protection.

I like the free MS Security Essentials myself.
