How do I turn on my internal webcam?

I was told that the Hp Lap top we have bought will loose its web cam.After a certain time frame..It almost self destructs and we can cry all we want to try to repair it, and it will be a no go..That came from one of the future shop employees. they told me we would have to buy a new lap top. I am not happy that HP would treat their Clientele that way. That is so totally under handed. I am not happy with the HP C

I went from Vista to Windows 7 and I can't find in Device manager the Imaging device.
