How should I clean my laptop's screen?

I've had my hp Pavilion dv6000 for almost four years and the screen had gotten a little dirty in that time.  I would like to know exactly what type of display by laptop's srcreen is and how best to clean it and what to use.

If I wanted to clean the vents in my laptop, should I remove their cover(s)?

Re: How should I clean my laptop's screen?

On most of the HP notebooks, you use canned air and just blow into the exhaust vent.

On some of the newer notebooks, the fan is visible after removing the service panel on the bottom of the notebook and can be cleaned out more thoroughly.

Here's the document on cleaning the vents:

If you want to use water, make sure to use distilled water. This will remove the possibility of containments in the water such as chlorine or sediment. Use a non-abrasive cloth, I get paranoid about chemicals so I don't use my cloth for anything else but electronic screens.
