I Have a extra cd and hard drive thats not connected to it.

I have a new hp 2000- 329wm   I have a extra cd drive and a extra hard drive that are not in my computer or hooked up to it.

I did not put them in either.

When i go into my computer it tells me there is a g hard drive thats not in itor connected to it.

Also just this week it showed up a extra cd drive thats also not connected or in the note book.

Please is there a way other than going back to an earlier date to take them out?

Hi,

Did you connect ANY external HDD or a flash drive (USB key) to your machine recently. Some external HDD companies put in some sorts of software which emulate a CD or even an external HDD to our machines. My Western Digital external HDD does similar thing.

No i have not.

I connected a ext hd back  in dec.

But the cd came in on its own.

Have no idea where it came from.

I did connect a card reader last month but the cd came in after it.

Its not a prob i just was wondering where it come from or if i can delete beings it is not connected.

Hi,

Probably you did not notice when plug the external HDD in, here is fro my laptop:

There are TWO optical drives listed. The first one is the REAL one which is ON the machine; the second one is a "virtual" optical drive (no physical drive) which come with the Western Digital software. Probably yours is the same.

The cd is not on my computer anymore must have been a fluke thing.

It disapperaed by itself.

It may reappear again when you plug the external HDD in. Anyway, that's normal.

It come back this morn and did not connect a ext cd rom to it.

Guess i am gonna have to back again before it happened and redate it.

Sorry for all the trouble.

I have been using computers since 98 and never had this prob.
