I have a notebook pavilion G6 that is one year old. I opened it up and nothing. Dead.

This computer was working fine yesterday.  As far as I know, nothing has happened since I last turned it off.  I checked the power cord on another similar computer and the power cord is working fine.

Re: I have a notebook pavilion G6 that is one year old. I opened it up and nothing. Dead.

Please try some standard things first:

Try to start the notebook with the battery removed and only the power adaptor.

Try a hard reset:

Try to start the notebook with just one piece of memory installed and try each slot (remove battery and power adaptor before changing the memory). Then try the other piece if you have two pieces.  If you only have one, at least try the other slot.

Re: I have a notebook pavilion G6 that is one year old. I opened it up and nothing. Dead.

Danjen,

You just saved me $300, which is what the HP guy in India said would be the cost to put in a new motherboard.

Removing the battery did the trick.  Put the battery back in and the computer works fine.

I am scratching my head as to what was wrong and why removing the battery fixed it.

Thank you so much.

Herman
