I need a windows 7 DVD

I bought one HP Mini 210-2011 TU PC (I guess that's its name because the mini is not with me and am not using it now)

I purchased it on last January from an HP Store in KochI,Kerala. Three weeks ago, it stopped working and when contacted the showroom, they told us that the motherboard is dead and needs to be replaced!!!!!!

It took 6 days or something to replace the motherboard. When we received the Mini, there was some sort of imperfection in the shape like dust will enter through the gap between Battery and the body of the Mini.

Moreover, we had a genuine Windows 7 Home on that Mini. After service, it became "NOT GENUINE".

It took another week to correct this problem.

Now, I would like to know is there a way to recover the factory settings ??? Is there a backup DVD of Windows 7 available ??

Please reply if some HP FOLKS ARE READING THIS..I'VE ALREADY SENT ONE E-MAIL..THERE WASN'T ANY RESPONSE AT ALL .I DON'T KNOW WHETHER THIS IS AN ACTIVE FORUM OR SOMETHING....

Re: I need a windows 7 DVD

If the hard drive on your mini is the original one there should be a recovery partition on it. See if this link will help you out...

Re: I need a windows 7 DVD

Thanks for your response...Let me ask u one question since u told that u are an employee of HP. I don't know whether u are in a position to answer it or not.

Is HP India's service is good ?

If we are not able to log in to Windows, we need a bootable disk (as it is a netbook, lets say a pen drive). As I have purchased Windows 7 genuine, I am entitled to get a DVD, right ?When I contacted them, they are telling me to purchase  EXTERNAL DVD DRIVE first .I don't know how can the customer care person say like that. I need a DVD and the rest, I will be able to do I guess.

Re: I need a windows 7 DVD

Hi there,

When you call in you need to ask them for the restore disks for you product. There may be a cost involed but it should be minumim somewhere in the region of $20 with standard shipping.

As for the service from offshore call centers I have no idea as I do not deal with them.

I hope this information help you out.

Re: I need a windows 7 DVD

Hi,

If you still have recovery partition then please create a usb recovery flash driver.

This is much better solution fo mini models. You will avoid situation with buying external optical drive.

More informations about it you will find in the links below:

Creating a Recovery Disk on a USB Flash Disk

Recover Windows 7 Operating System Using HP Recovery

When you will want to "restore system to factory settings" then connect this USB flash disc to one of usb ports.

Switch on your laptop and pres F9 on startup. Choose as boot device USB flash drive and wait until process will finish.

That's all.
