I upgraded my RAM, do I also need to upgrade my OS to a x64 bit OS?

Hi, today I purchased 2GB of RAM and installed it into my computer (a Compaq Presario CQ50Z-100 CTO Notebook).  I now have 2.5GB of RAM as opposed to the 1GB of RAM I had earlier.

I am running the Windows 7 Ultimate RC 32 bit OS.  I need to know if I also need to upgrade to a x64 bit edition of Windows to use ALL of my availiable RAM.  Thanks.

you don't have to, 32bit system can address 4GB of memory

it shows 2.5G instead of 3 because the system used up some already.

Also, you need 64bit capable CPU to run 64bit OSes.

Re: I upgraded my RAM, do I also need to upgrade my OS to a x64 bit OS?

32 bit system can use max 3.5GB Ram so You don't need upgrade to x64 system.
