Is there a way to disable the fingerprint reader on my laptop? I don't want to use it.

Is there a way to disable the fingerprint reader on my laptop?  I don't need or want it as I am the only one using my laptop.  In addition, in the event of an emergency, I might like to have someone else access my laptopn.  It doesn't always work first or second time and I just find it annoying.

I have a model DV7-6169NR notebook.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

If you do not want to use ever fingerprint sensor then you may uninstall from system software for it - HP SimplePass. Next you may disable fingerprint sensor in device manager. How to do it?

Go to:

Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Biometric Devices

Right click your Validity fingerprint sensor there and choose ' Disable '.
