My left click button (dv6) has also broken, again not a lot of use. I'm planning on switching the right and left buttons but after reading the posts it looks like it will only delay total failure. Has anyone found a reliable repair shop? The PC is about 90 days out of warranty.
Thanks for any help.

There is no easy fix - you have to replace the whole palm rest - they call it a Top chassis cover assembly - With touchpad. and its about 80 bucks or so from HP - or you can find one on ebay - but be extra careful to get the right part # else it won't fit. it doesn't come out as a separate piece. And you will literally have to take out all but one screw to get it off! Poor design on HP's part. I'd opt for an external mouse...save yourself the carporaltunnel...and greenbacks.

i aso have been having thisw problem with the left click button. it just all of a sudden started getting out of place. slides under the framing and i have to slide it back to get it to work. What is the solution besides paying for something that seems to happen to this model a lot. I have a Hp Pavilion Entertainment PC DV6-2043.

I have a 3 year old dv6t-1200with the same problemfor the third or fourth time now. I use itfor scool and have other computers so sending it backisn't much of a problem. But four times it has broken, on the third it collapsed entirely, on all other three times, including this one, has lost support on the left side of the left clicker.Obviously, since i'm out of warrenty, i'm refraining from using it, and using an external mouse. HP's quality assurance was entirely crap on the entire dv6 line.
It is a sad fact that a gaming computer just isn't worth the 1200$ they charge you ![]()

I, too, have a Pavilion D6 with this problem. I thought I was already out of warranty when the click button first started feeling loose. When I finally called to ask about a solution, it turns out it had still been under warranty when it started but was out a week by then. I reversed the buttons to use the right click as the left click, and like many others, found this only a temporary solution as it soon broke as well. My son taught me to use the touch pad with a tap - wish I had known that when I first got the computer and it might have prevented the problem on the click keys. Clearly, with this many users with the same problem, it is a design flaw that HP should take care of. This was my first HP after many years with Dell - LOVED the computer for the first year, but not now - and reluctant to buy another HP unless they provide better customer care with a widespread problem like this.
