Sorry too say it - but you need to wake up and be aware. It is WELL documented that it is faulty. It SHOULD bee a recall. FYI --- recalls don't work on a warrantys schedule!!!

I knew it was coming and I had babied this laptop for years but finally the hinge on the right side is starting to go and has cracked the casing. I called HP to see what they can do and all they are interested in doing is selling me a laptop at retail cost. Now mind you I have bought two HP desktops and three HP laptops as well as two of there printers and one scanner over the years. All I want to do is get this repaired not spend another $700 on a new laptop when this one works fine. On top of that I have to deal with there customer service based in some other country who speak like robots. I am pretty fed up right now and I think this is the straw that finally broke the camels back. No wonder Apple is gaining so much popularity.

Probably late into the game, have a dv 8000 whose left hinge has been broken fo over a year, the right finally broke, called hp and they don't have replacement hinges or even a part number. I can find 9000 hinges everywhere, are the 8000 and 9000 the same hinges . does anyone know. I had bought a newer pavillion a dv7-4153 cl, to us the keypad you have to be houdini, constantly hitting the mouse pad with the heal of my hand scambling everything would like to have my 8000 fixed, can buy a refurburshed for under 200 but who knows if the hinge problem will appear

Oh well another sad tale about the hinges on the hp dV9000. It's been a great computer but can't believe something that I paid so much for could be so badly manufactured. Where do I get the hinges and how do I repair without using a technician.
