May I use an HP P/N 462602-001 charger with my HP ENVY 17-3070nr Notebook PC?

I forgot my charger at work. However, I do have the HP P/N 462602-001 (auto/plane/boat) charger from my previous laptop. May I use that temporarily?

Yes, that should be a 90 watt adapter and should be more than enopugh to power the notebook, as long as the plug that connects to the notebook is the same you are good to go.

I knew I was being paranoid, but I wasn't convinced that just because the plugs fit, that the charger wouldn't fry the laptop.

So, in general, if the plugs fit, what would keep me from using a particular charger with a particular laptop? Insufficient power? Too much power? Available current too high/too low?

Laptop only uses what it needs, so the only problem would be is using one that is too small for the laptop.

I would not say if the plug fits use it, only if you know it is for a HP laptop would that apply.
