Mute, Volume and WLAN touchpads not working

I have a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC (laptop) dv6, running Windows 7; a few weeks back the touch pads for Mute, Volume and WLAN stopped working.  As yet I have not been able to determine whats causing this or how to resolve the problem.  I have found other posting out there on this same issues, but have far not found a solution.  Did request HP tech support, but that ended up having me wipe everything out and start over, which did not fix the problem and had me re-building everything.  Don't want to go through that again, any other help out there?

Re: Mute, Volume and WLAN touchpads not working

Hi,

Perform a Hard Reset

1. Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards.

2. Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery, and then press and hold the power button for at least 1 minute.

3. Reconnect the AC power adapter (do not connect the battery), press the Power button.

Check is your problem with buttons solved.

try to uninstall the keyboard driver from device manager and also the quick launch software from programs and feature in control panel.
