NEED HELP - Forgotten Administrative password

How can I recover forgotten administrative password for HP Pavilion zv6000 without loosing all important documents/folders/pictures etc...I am desperate for this information, please HELP!!

Alternatively, you can take the HD out and connect it to another computer or have the computer take to a repair shop and they'll recover all data for you by dragging and dropping what you need.

I too have forgotten my administrative password and am unable to log in. If I were to take it to a shop, will they be able to cancel the password? If they can back up/recover all the data, does this mean I will later be able to use my computer? Please help.

this maybe an extreme way but if you take out the power supply battery then Take out the CMOS battery and WAIT 5-6 minutes. Put the CMOS battery back then the powers supply Battery that should wipe out any passwords( it would probably clear other settings to ie..time,date,Ect)

doesnt anyone read the prevoiuse post and answers before they jump in on a post from 2 months ago and ask a question that has been answered if they just took the time to actually LOOK at AND READ the information given previously.

If you are referring to the previous post about removing the battery and the CMOS battery, that does notjing to solve the porblem of a lost password for the OS. If you password lock access to the BIOS and/or require a password before the BIOS will boot the operating system, then yes, removing the battery and CMOS battery (and I would suggest then holding down the power button for about 30 seconds to completely drain any capacitors that might be holding a charge) will remove those passwords and reset the BIOS to its default state. However, if it is a forgotten Windows user password, then removing batteries, etc. will not work.

My wife forgot her Windows XP password for her netbook and was unable to get past the login screen. I was able to start her netbook in "Safe Mode" by pressing <F8> during the boot process. Once in Safe Mode, I clicked <Start>, <Run> and typed "nusrmgr.cpl" (without quotes) in theRun Box and clicked <OK>. This brought up the GUI for User Account Control. I then chose her user account, clicked "Remove password," confirmed, and then Restarted. Worked like a charm. Hope this helps.
