New RAM not recognized

My old notebook needed more RAM so hp gave proper cards to purchase.  After installing, the notebook works the same as before and does not recognize any new/more RAM.  I'm sure I inserted properly.

not much information here....we need the model number, how much memory you had and how much you want to install. It would also help to know anything written on the chips you are trying to install.
