Pavilion DV3 2150us, the notebook is plugged in, not charging the battery. Is a new battery.

Hi guys

I have a dv3 2150us notebook with windows 7 64 bit.   About one week ago it started saying, "plugged in and charging."  But not chargin…the battery level is 0%. The battery is new. I have done the following steps:

Step 1: Power drain.

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.

2. Remove the Battery.

3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

4. Replace the battery and Reconnect the AC adapter.

5. Turn on the Notebook power.

Step 2: Battery test;

Follow the steps below to check the battery status.

1. Connect the AC adapter to your notebook PC. The notebook PC must be on AC power in order for HP Battery Check utility to function properly.

2. Click Start and type Total Care in the Search field and press Enter.

3. Click Battery. The condition of the battery displays as OK

The next step we tried was to update the bios. After downloading the “latest” version of bios off the hp website and running through the steps…NOTHING

Can you help me?

Regards

Hi,

It may be worth trying the following process to see if it helps the issue at all - I realise you have already tried the first part, but try the process from start to finish.

First of all, shutdown the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter, remove the battery, and then hold down the Power button for a full minute.

Now, plug in the AC Adapter without the battery inserted, start the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand the entry for Batteries, right click on and the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall - do not uninstall anything else here.  When the uninstall is complete, shut the PC down, unplug the AC Adapter, re-insert the battery and then start the PC on just the battery.  Windows will automatically reinstall the driver - leave Windows running for a few minutes. Shutdown the PC again.  Now plug in the AC Adapter ( with the battery still inserted ) and start the notebook to see if this has helped the issue at all.

Regards,
