Pavilion G6-1b50US Notebook PC - Using the right click key causing erratic cursor

I have a Pavilion G6-1b50US.  When I use the right click key shortcut  to copy or paste the cursor becomes erratic, jumping all over the screen  until I close the PC cover and reopen it.. This as been happening since the PC was new. I have tried to update the touchpad driver which did not alleviate the problem. It is very annoying besides causing me to lose work I have been doing when I hit a key before I realize the cursor is in the wrong spot. What is the solution to fix this problem?

Re: Pavilion G6-1b50US Notebook PC -Product # QF761UA - Keyboard KBC Version 16:24 - AMD Phenom II P650 Dual core processor - Using Microsoft Windows 7 Home  Using the right click key causes the cursor to become erratic, jumping all over the screen whenever I press a key. This has been happening since the PC was new and is driving me crazy. It will reset itself if I close the cover. I tried updating to latest driver from HP with no change.[ New ]

Re: Pavilion G6-1b50US Notebook PC - Using the right click key causing erratic cursor

Please update your Bios.

Latest Bios version for your specific model you may download from here.

How to update Bios?

Connect the notebook to the AC power supply.

Disconnect from the internet. Exit from all programs that you are running. Disable anti-virus and firewall.

Execute the Bios update exe file. It may take some time. Allow the notebook to restart after applying the updated BIOS.

While this update is running:

  • do not switch off your laptop,
  • do not disconnect AC power supply,
  • do not try to run any software or do anything on it .

Re: Pavilion G6-1b50US Notebook PC - Using the right click key causing erratic cursor

Thanks for the reply. I have been trying to execute the Bios. update exe file, but I don't know how. I have followed your instructions up to that point and have tried the F8, F9, F10, and F12 keys and nothing happens. I thought F9 was going to launch it, because I did get a screen asking me to select Windows 7, no bios. I am not tech savy about how to do this type of thing. Can you tell me how to execute the Bios on my computer?

Re: Pavilion G6-1b50US Notebook PC - Using the right click key causing erratic cursor

If do not know how you should do this then please do not do this at all.

Uninstall your current driver for Synaptics TouchPad and restart system.

Resource:
Uninstalling Software in Windows 7

Uninstall or change a program in Windows 7

Download and install latest version from here and restart system.

Check the results.
