Pavilion dv6 hp true vision had inbuilt webcam not being recognized or detected by the machine

i have installed media smart drivers but still the webcam is not detected. i am told to turn on the webcam but i dont know where to turn the

I had bought a HP pavillion DV6 Laotop.. Its webcam was working properly, but from 2 days its not opening only.. Can Anyone please Suggest me what i can do? i had bought it about 6 months ago

when i open my webcam,it view dark images,very dark one can't even recognize his face.

I have got the saIme problem. I sent it back and they fixed it but it worked for a few weeks and 'diappeared again'.I am so frustrated I have regretted buying it!!!. I bought mine last March(2012).

How did HP determine it was a hardware issue? They want me to wipe my drive and reset to factory to see if that helps. Tech was unable to connect to my pc to see the problem himself as he was having issues at his end. I have the same problem with the truevision HD being WAY too dark. I tried all of the fixes here, no help. Wiping the drive is such a pain . . . reinstalling all of the copy protected software is such a pain . . . sitting on hold to get permission to install Office, or whatever, on another computer.

You pretty much HAVE to take the frame off of the monitor. Two screws at the bottom. Be carerful as you pry the flimsy plastic frame away from the monitor. Start from the sides. You don't have to take it all the way off. Leave the bottom portion connected, but pull away the sides and top to reveal the webcam. There is a small white plastic connector that is unplugged. It is of poor design and slips out easily. You will notice that it is not plugged in all the way. Just plug it in. Be gentle... it doesn't take much pressure to push it in. I put a small bit of sticky tape over the top of it to try and keep it in place. The camera will be operative immediately. I even did this with the computer on. FOllow my instructions at your own risk. Yes, this will likely void your warranty. DON"T ADMIT THAT YOU DID IT YOURSELF. 

HP should be ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES FOR NOT REPLYING TO THIS THREAD AFTER SO MANY COMPLAINTS! That is really poor service. 

Anyway...  I think you will find that this is your problem. It fixed mine. I had to go back in a couple of months after the intial repair and add the tape, because I didn't do it the first time and the camera came unplugged again. All is well after the second repair.
