Pavilion dv7-3169wm won't power on

I have a three year od dv7. It was running just fine, until our power cord died. My laptop battery only held a charge for about 30 seconds. The battery of course, died, while waiting for a replacement cord.

However, when I got the new cord, I plugged it in to my laptop, and after pushing the power button, the laptop sounds as if it's going to come on. The fan runs, and the LED's above the keyboard come on, but only for about two seconds, then everything shuts down.

I tried running off AC power only ((no battery in the laptop)) and I've performed a hard reset, as well. Nothing different.

The HDD is fine, as I've tested it in another machine. There's no LED's blinking, so I can't compare them to the blink codes. I'm wondering if it's the AC adapter port, or the motherboard, or the motherboard fuse.

Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like a failed motherboard to me, there are no fuses.

I would take it to a reputable repair shop for a professional diagnosis to be sure it is not something else.

Yeah, after spending some more time with it, that's the conclusion I came too.

Thanks :smileyhappy:
