Printer error 0x00000709

HP Pavilion dm4-1160us with Windows 7 Home Premium, with all updates installed. I am unable to set any printer as default and programs (Quicken 12, Foxit Phantom PDF) do not see any printer installed and will not even give me print preview. I tried new drivers for each printer, doing a system tune up, uninstalling all printers and reinstalling just one. I tried System Restore, but the earliest one I could find was 5/24/12 and it was corrupt.

I am using AVG 2012 Free Addition. I am having no other problems. I don't want to have to reinstall all my programs. Is there any fix short of a return to a factory fresh install of windows 7?

This is the second time I have seen this in a week, I have no clue what is causing it so far, or how to repair it unfortunately. Some sort of registry corruption or misconfiguration.

I would completely uninstall AVG to see if that is the issue.

here was the cure

Manage network connections (Network and Sharing Center in Windows 7)
Go into your LAN properties
Click Client for Microsoft Networks and hit Uninstall
Reboot
Go back into LAN properties and click Install -> Client -> Client for Microsoft Networks
Reboot
Add the network printer as you normally would.

Downloaded  HP update HP914009. Now I can't  select it as default printer. Help please.

I recently have experienced repeated failures trying to install KB2768349 for MS Office 2013 x64 on HP Pavilion dv6, i7-3610QM, Win7x64-HomePremium. I get back two different errors, one from my machine, 0x00000709, and another from  Windows Update, 0x80070643, which I tried to correct by changing Office Source Engine services from Manual to Automatic and start but to no avail. I then tried Restore a few times and finally Recovery but again without success. I also notice C partition is a RAID with 677GB of total space.

I got a new printer, it won't connect to my home network, i got the same error. How do i fix this?

i forgot to say I have win 7 home 64, & HP 6520E printer.
