Recovering Compaq NX7400 using DVD

During the Recovery Process. It came up with CD/DVD Error.I have tried to reboot the it with the CD again but no success. It says there is no OS and need to press ‘R’ for recovery but then it will come up with CD/DVD Error.The hard disc has been formatted and I am not sure if the recovery partition has been deleted too. If it hasn’t, is anyway I can use it to do the recoveryIs there anything else I can do, apart from getting a recovery CD from HP?Thanks for your help.
