Win 7 64 bit
Error Msg: Action restricted. Contact Administrator (I am the signed in Administrator).
I have this new laptop and I do not want the HP Simple pass to take up space as a toolbar in view on IE9. I may or may not use it so I do not want to delete it. The tool bar is unlocked and it takes up the ENTIRE row and can not be moved in the normal fashion. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THE TOOLBAR IN IE9.
I select View; then Toolbar then deselect HP Simplepass. Then I get the error message described above. I am sign in as the Administrator.
There are a few other similar threads but there is not an acceptable solution. They may not be the same issue.

I also have the same issue. I want to retain the benefits of Simplepass, but I don't want it taking up room on my browser. At least have it be just a button which could be integrated on a toolbar of my choosing so it isn't taking up an entire row...

It seems that the only way to remove this toolbar is via Registry:

Where did you find the download for the most recent Simplepass? I got sp56487 and I'm willing to bet that it's still and old version. Would you mind showing me which one you downloaded?

I'm not going to lie, it was a little frustrating to figure out. HP doesn't offer the lates version of this.Go to:
When you go into internet explorer right click on the menu bar/toolbar, and uncheck the HP Simplepass toolbar. It will pop up with the option to disable a related add on.
If you want to be able to use simplepass in the browser, uncheck this option.
If you do not like the option to use your fingerprint in the browser leave it checked.
Good luck. No guarantees that the new version is compatible with your comp.
Works very well on my dv6t quad
