Slow running netbook

I own a HP 2133 netbook running Windows Vista.  It has the VIA C7-M processor with a 60GB HD.  It does not have flash memory HD.  Ever since I installed McAffee anti virus it has slowed down to a crawl.  We are talking, I have seen snails go faster.  Is there another anti virus that will work with this netbook that won't halt production to this extreme?

Uninstall McAfee first, worst software ever.

Before you will install Microsoft Security Essentials please uninstall McAffe first using method from below link:

How to uninstall or reinstall supported McAfee consumer products using the McAfee Consumer Products ...
