Sparks from laptop

Hi, I am using hp dv4 laptop since 2 years. I did not face any problems till now. But i am very frightened now. My laptop is emitting sparks from the top left corner. What is the actual problem? Is this a serious issue?

I would unplug the power cord and remove the battery, stop using it and take it to a repair shop.

 

It is not safe to use it or have it connected to power or have the battery installed.
