That's an LED or Light Emitting Diode....pretty much a tiny light.

 

What's the light for you ask?

 

Well it's a "Touchpad Off Switch" Light, you can deactivate your touchpad so that it doesn't move the mouse when you put your finger over it or across it. When the light is on, your touchpad is off, it's tiny so it looks like a pinhole but it's not.

 

Check out your online owners manual on how to specifically turn your touchpad off and on
