Touchpad Sensitivity

I need to adjust the sensitivity to my touchpad.  I have sent several half completed emails apparently because I somehow brush the pad.  And I find myself typing all over the page if I'm not careful.

I've read other posts about adjusting the sensitivity to your touchpad, but they have not worked for me.  Mine is a Synaptics Touchpad v7.5 and there is no option for sensitivity under the touchpad settings tab as described in the suggested fixes.  When I try to download the driver as has also been suggested, it says that I already have the most recent update. (it seems like the suggestions are for v7.4).   I have a Pavilion dv6-6c35dx.  Can anyone help?

Hi,

You may be able to download and install the 7.4 version as follows.

First, download the 7.4 version of the Synaptics driver installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52001-52500/sp52352.exe

Next, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry 'Synaptics Pointing Device Driver' and select Uninstall.

When this has completed, restart the notebook.

When windows has fully reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click the Synaptics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  If this installs Ok, when completed, restart the notebook again.

When windows has reloaded, see if you now have the options shown in the screenshot below.
