Hi finline,

What device are you connecting via USB to your notebook?

Re: USB connect to my laptop is so slow

Are you connecting the USB devices to the USB 3.0 ports or the USB 2.0 ports?

You may need to update the chipset drivers  and the USB 3.0 controller driver. The USB 3.0 ports usually have blue plastic inside instead of black to differentiate them from USB 2.0 ports.

If you do not have resolution of the issue from the updates, you may also consider running the system file checker to inspect your system files.  (from a command line sfc /scannow)

You do not need to reinstall the Intel MEI or MEI component driver. Those two items are for remote access control of your notebook.  :smileywink:

Re: USB connect to my laptop is so slow

sfc /scannow does not scan. It inspects your system files and replaces the corrupt ones.

Can you explain what you mean by the USB 2.0 stick connecting slow?

It normally takes about six seconds for the Windows 7 OS to fully react to a usb 2.0 thumbdrive plugin event even in a system like this desktop with an AMD quad processor running at 3.8 GHZ

Re: USB connect to my laptop is so slow

It normally takes about six seconds for the Windows 7 OS to fully react to a usb 2.0 thumbdrive plugin but it takes about 5 minutes with my laptop to fully react (if and only if i do some thing like that, plugin one new HDD to my laptop through USB 2.0 port, wait 1-2 minutes and plugout, the screen "driver does not install" appear and plugin again, my laptop regconize it like the first picture above, 3 minutes later, the autoplay window appear and i can tranfer data to my laptop after that.)

Re: USB connect to my laptop is so slow

Did you update the chipset driver and USB 3.0 driver as I suggested?

Have you done a TuneUp within the past month via the HP Support Assistant --> Maintain?
