Hi all,
Looking for help. Recently bought a basic laptop for my parents (Presario CQ56), but for some reason it wont detect any hardware from any of the 3 USB ports. I've updated Windows and HP etc, and also looked for drivers etc, but nothing seems to work.
Am I missing something simple? Does anyone know what the problem might be? I've tried numerous flash drives, USB mouses and external hard drives etc, but nothing is recognised. The ports dont appear to be working.
Magnus

To check if USB Port is working...I would suggest connecting a USB Based Flash Drive/Hard Drive and power up the notebook and tap the ESC key. that will take you to Startup Menu now press the F9 Key...Check if the USB based Storage device is detected...If it getting detected here than we have OS problem on hand, if not, than we will need to try and set the BIOS to default or Update it and check...
The Boot Manager looks something like this...

Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
