Hello, this is my laptop. What processors motherboard supports? Nothing is mentioned on Intel website about this. I also was thinking upgrading 5400RPM Hitachi hard drive to Seagate XT 7200RPM Hybrid Solid-State Drive. Do you think processor upgrade and hard drive upgrade will earn me good speed?
Should i also upgrade from from 1GB of RAM to 2GB?
Thanks.

The financial risk is yours to accept. If you purchase the processor at a reputable local vendor and it does not work, then you should be able to return it.
Most of the time those chips are bonded tot he motherboard, if you wish to upgrade your computer that much, it may be time to purchase a new machine.
Adding more RAM won't damage your notebook hardware or software, and even though HP recommends @GB as a max others have gotten your same model of computer up to 4GB of RAM. It is recommended for todays day and age 2GB minimum.
Your notebook will either be able to use the memory modules or not. It is as simple as that.
Good luck!

Look in your Maintenance and Service Guide under section 5.20 That will tell you what processor are compatible with your product ![]()

@JP_Prometheus
What if i buy 2x2GB and it won't work? Yes i can still use 1x2GB but what if each slot can only accept up to 1x1GB? Then i am out of luck.
@Matt_Lo
This maintenance is for 5100 and mine is 5282. Also what JP_Prometheus mentioned is that most processors are bonded to motherboard. I will have to see how it is in my case but i never opened laptop.

CPUs are not bonded to mainboards.
They are limited by the chipsets and BIOS that are on the mainboard.
Look at your Maint. guide for your notebook and see what HP says it will take.
All the CPUs available are listed.
RAM is another one that is limited by the chipsets. The manual will also tell this info.
Hard drive beware--- People talk about heat from a notebook.
I will warn you now that a 7200 RPM drive will run hotter than your 5400 RPM drive.
Some notebooks are not recommended for such drives. Again consult the maint. guide for info.

Is there a program that allows me to limit hard drive's RPM? I would just set it to 5400RPM.

There is no option to limit the speed of the HDD. If the HDD is 7200RPM, it stays as it is. I will recommend you updating the latest version of the BIOS on your unit for better performance.
