I have a Pavilion dv7-3090eo with severe heating problems. My CPU has a coretemp at 95 ¤c and I have done everything to get it down without success. Have a coolingpad under my computer and it is placed in a wellventilated area and I clean often.
I want to have full acces to a full BIOS in order to control the heat in and cool down my CPU and other parts and get my fanspeed down. Does anyone know why HP has stripped the BIOS to its bacis functions? How do I unlock BIOS? I don't have eny warranty left so I do it all on my own responsibility and I am aware of its risks. If you don't want to post it here, send a PM to me with the solution.
Thank you in advance.

Sorry I don't know of a way to unlock the BIOS. Have you ever cleaned the notebook with compressed air? If not pick up a can and clean all external ports, vents, etc.Pay special attention to the air outlet that the fan exhausts through, may be some dust clogging the fan/heatsink.
I recently saw a post that mentioned his tip for lowering cpu temps worked well. You simply set cpu maximum at 85-90% rather than at 100%. If you want to try it go to Control Panel, Power Options. Select your Power plan and choose the link to 'Change plan settings'.In the window that opens choose 'Change advanced power settings'. There you can adjust cpu settings down a bit to see if it helps with the heat.

Have you tried setting cpu to lower setting as mentioned in last part of my reply above? The guy who posted the tip swore by it.
You may really need the thermal paste cleaned off and reapplied on the cpu/heatsink. This is usually done by a professional ,not to say it can't be done by owner, but these laptops are the devil to take apart.
