Webcam no longer functioning

I have a Pavilion dv6000 and the webcam is no longer recognized by the computer (not showing up in device manager).  I recently had a couple notices about something connected via USB no longer working but didn't have anything externally connected at the time so I ignored it. Now I wish I had looked in to it more...any help?

Please identify your notebook  Look at the base of the notebook at the barcoded sticker and post everything you see there except the serial number.

Post the operating system that is installed.

Re: Webcam no longer functioning

Hi,

Your notebook's support pages are located here. The YouCam drivers for Vista are located here. Install the latest version.

I suggest that you install the essential updates for Windows Vista located here at the support pages.

Updating the BIOS to the current version (F.33) addresses a number of issues and adds enhancements to you notebook's operation.

Please post your results here.

Best regards,
erico

[ Edited ]

The webcam does not show up in device manager so I can't update the drivers but everything else I updated to no avail. There is an unknown device and I've uninstalled in and then I click "Scan for hardware changes" but it just reinstalls it as an unknown device.
