Re: Won't boot

Sometimes electrical components needs to have all power sources removed and reintroduced to work properly.  Try performing a hard reset first, if it doesn't work then we'll move to the next step.

To Perform A Hard Reset

  • Shut down the computer by going to the Start menu and selecting shut down. (If you have no display, hold the power button down for  5 seconds); (if the computer doesn't power on, move to the next step)
  • Disconnect the AC Adapter from the notebook.
  • Remove the battery from the bottom of the notebook.  There will be a switch/button to eject the battery.
  • Wait at least 1 minute with all power sources disconnected.
  • Re-insert the battery and reconnect the AC Adapter and then attempt to power on the notebook.

Re: Won't boot

Although you provided info that I first tried, and achieved the same results, your timely response, deserves Kudos. I should add that the same problem occurred years ago and was informed that it was a overheating issue with this model. I purchased a simple fan pad, and all as been fine until today. This morning,I did DWNLD a pgm "mapsgalaxy". Causes me to wonder. Im back up. My solution was simple: Before the solid blue lights went to blinking, I held down CTRL+ALT+DEL for 8secs. The lights remained stable, waited about a minute, closed the lid, 30secs, reopened and windows began to re-boot. Again, much thanks, I hope I can find you again, If I need HP tech solutions.

Re: Won't boot

I would make sure you clean out your fan area once in a while by using a can of compressed air. Time may be working against you.
