My Opinion:
Lithium Ion batteries are typically good for about 350 charges before the performance begins to degrade. That is why the battery warranty expires after 1 year. Each time the AC Adapter is connected/disconnected you can take 1 charge away from that 350. After while the battery degrades and won't keep the unit powered for more that 10 minutes or so. Constantly having it on the AC is no better. Try to Charge it to 100% and use it until Windows starts crying about the battery being below 20% and plug it back in again until fully charged. This should help you get the most out of your battery. For more info there is a HP Battery Heath Page you could check out here: http://h20239.www2.hp.com/techcenter/battery/index
