compaq cq58 241s touchpad (windows 8)

Hi

I just purchased this item yesterday and have been trying to use the touchpad with no success.  I double click the button on the pad then nothing happens, my pointer does not move.

Hi,

Try downloading and reinstalling the Synaptics driver on the following link.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58001-58500/sp58485.exe

After the installation has completed, restart the notebook.

Please ensure touchpad is turned on. The left top corner has a round circle that acts as on/off button. Refer the following screenshot.Capture.JPG

Hi,

The light being on would indicate that the pad is disabled, does the light go off if you double-tap the top left corner?

Hello Elderai,

I see that you are having problems disabling the touch pad on your HP computer. I would like to help with this issue but I need some information.

Can you provide the full model and product number of the computer? Here is a link that shows how to find that information.

Thanks for the information,

Here is a link with information and troubleshooting steps for the touch pad. Follow the steps in the link and it may help with your issue.

If you cannot get the double tap feature to work I would suggest uninstall the touch pad drivers from the computer and restarting the computer. This will reload the driver and may correct the problem.
