computer keeps running even after setting it to sleep mode

I have just had my Pavilion dv3 series laptop for about 3months now. The laptop always continues running for hours even after putting it into sleep mode. This display goes off while the computer keeps running, i always have to hold down the power button to turn it off. I also can not re enable hibernation for some reason. Spent hours on the phone with HP support but no one can seem to figure out anything.

Any ideas anyone?

How do i find my current graphic driver? I looked in device manager | Display Adapters: i see two things listed

Mobile Intel (R) 4 Series Express chipset family and

Unknown Device

Also i get an the following error message when i try to install the driver you sent:

"NVIDIA steup programs could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. setup will now exit"

Only after that install drivers for graphic which I gave You above.

To solve problem with unkown device :

Go to Control Panel -> Devices Manager

Click with right button of Your mouse on each yellow sign and choose properties. Then go to bottom details and paste here Hardware Ids. This way we will know what it is.
