HP Elitebook Workstation 8560w
QA162PA#ABG
Win7 Professional Service Pack 1
Hi lovely tech-heads,
I am trying to run Traktor Pro2 and the associated S4 digital controller (thru the usb2 port as it gives me the BSOD when trying to use the usb3 port which is supposed to be compatible with ALL usb2 devices!) and want the best performance.
I bought the best HP laptop so I could run Traktor without excessive latency or glitching.
I have found that I currently need to have a latency of almost 10milliseconds to avoid glitching which is getting to an unacceptable level of latency.
What can I do to improve the performance?
Can I remove some unnecessary bloatware and if so where do I start.
Also do I need to run Traktor in Admin mode and if so why?
I am also unhappy with the sound from the onboard speakers. I swear the LH speaker isnt working as the sound seems much louder on the RH side of the laptop.
I have already reinstalled Windows to deal with a fail to resume from sleep issue and am about to hand this laptop back to HP and get either a refund or an Envy.
Can anybody out there give me some advice please?

Contact the hardware vendor that supplies the driver that is causing the bsod, they may know what the problem is.
Otherwise does it work without bsoding on the usb 2.0 port which is on the left side?

Hi,
The first mistake was buying a Elite model. This is a bussines model and a very good one...
You should choose Envy 15 or Envy 17. Both have High-end audio (6.1 Beats Audio™ system with 6 speakers and 1 subwoofer) and 2 headphone stereo-out jacks.

Thanks for your feedback.
I have checked with Native Instruments and that's where I found that the usb3 ports don't work with the S4 digital DJ controller.
I assumed (a mistake I know) that since the usb3 ports are backwards compatible with usb2 devices, they would work with my usb2 device that is only 1 year old.
I suppose I'll need to wait for a driver update from NI

I hear what you are saying about making the wrong choice. My thinking was that if I got the model with the faster chipset then I would avoid audio issues. I use a digital DJ controller that has an external sound card so what I need is quickness and adequate RAM (I'm running with12GB).
I am finding that my CPU is running at 50% even after talking with HP support and removing excess processes. Before that it was running at 85 to 90%.
Doesn't leave much headroom for actually doing things.
Thanks for your feedback. Any other info or advice you can help me with?
I would be up for swapping this elitebook for the envy17 if it promises better performance.
