Hi jmcenany,

 

I understand you're experiencing some issues with the cooling fan in your sons G series HP laptop. I'm sorry to hear this has been happening but I will do my best to help.

 

You can check out this document that will walk you through how to clean the vents (in case they have any build up on them) and how to test for a hardware failure so that you will know if it needs to be replaced or not.

As you are clearly still in warranty I would suggest you called into HP Technical Support for repair options as you may have a hardware issue.
