disable the the touchpad on Pavilion dv6 laptop

i have a pavilion dv6 and would like to disable the the touchpad so i can use an external mouse. When I type sometimes the cursor jumps around and messes up my document. think my thumbs are touching the pad and moving the cursor.

It will depend on your exact model.  If you look at the touchpad, there might be an outline of a rectangle.  That is the tap zone for that model - you would double-tap it twice.

If that's not working, we might need to have you uninstall & reinstall the touchpad drivers and try it again.
