dv6000 overheating BIOS F.3D

I've got a HP Pavillion dv6000 notebook (dv6149eu) and it has F.3D BIOS installed on it, which suppose to help keep it more cool, but I had to change my motherboard 2 times now, because it still overheats. The core tempretures usually hang around 50-60°C but go up to ~90°C sometimes, which I don't think is normal... is anyone else expeiriencing overheating? if so maybe there's some other better BIOS for this, or maybe some program which would control the cooling better?

Is it shutting off due to overheating?

Re: dv6000 overheating BIOS F.3D

It is normal for notebooks, especialy modern notebooks, to run pretty hot. If it is running hot enough that it shuts down or kills the motherboard then yes, that is way to hot. But 90 degrees isn't crazy hot. Have you replaced your motherboard through HP warranty? Or did you do it independantly?

Re: dv6000 overheating BIOS F.3D

Well it automatically shutted down maybe only 2 times out of 1 year, but yes it kills the motherboard in time, doing little damage everyday and then as if out of nowhere the motherboard one day dies. The first time it died hp replaced it with a new one, and then some time later announced that it's due to a bad BIOS and the fan doesn't keep them cool enought, so I installed the new bios, but half a year later the same thing happened. Well its still better than the first time - it only ran 1month and died.

anyway I see other people posting that theyr tempreture keeps on around 30-40'ish on theyr notebooks. and mine's on 60'ish...
Is there a law saying that "thou should turn off your notebook few times a day to let it cool"??

Re: dv6000 overheating BIOS F.3D

I have no doubt that your notebook is overheating to a sever degree. I am just saying that some notebooks, especialy high end gaming models, A buddy of mine had a DELL XPS (thier high end uber-machine from a couple years ago) that would literaly burn you if you weren't careful. In your case I would contact the manufacturer if you are in warranty. I know that under some circumstances notebook can be deemed "un repairable" and there are other options, if you've had two or three motherboards you might meet those requirments.

Re: dv6000 overheating BIOS F.3D

i think this must be a hp fault because my dv4000 has done this so often its rare for me to get any work done without it shutting off at least once or twice and it recently destroyed my hard drive causing me to have a new one and losing all my work - my advice is back everything up onto disc or external hard drive etc and if you can dump the hp and get a new laptop by someone else. mine went in for repair for this problem under warrenty and the told me it was fixed and it was only a few weeks when hte problem started again, no longer under warrenty they wont fix it and its obvious they dont know how to. im sorry to hear that this effects models other and presumably later than mine but i think its because hp are rubbish - i wont buy a hp laptop again.

I know this is way late to the party, however, for future readers, 90 degrees CELESIUS is far too hot for a computer. That is getting into the range of damage to computer components. CPU's die around that temperature as that is 198 degrees fahrenheit.
