Well I'd say I have to agree with Leethel. No point in spending $$$ for a new battery.

Also no response from HP would also back what Leethel is saying even further. IE: "The problem is in the bios". And we are talking about an old notebook in HP's eyes, so of course they want you to go buy a new one.

I guess I must have somehow slipped into the .01% by getting my old original dead battery to be re-recognized and charging again, all I did was leave it out for about two weeks and just ran the notebook on AC power. Then I put it back in and it worked.

I'm not by any means suggesting that this is a fix. It is just what I did.

I am v v v v v unhappy with HP

Once it thought it was a good computer

considering I NOW OWN TWO hpdv6000's and they have both ruined* between them 4 batteries within 1DAY of them being new so that I am forced to just use the power supply is utterly ridiculous

I have found many forums on here describing the same problem

IF they dont GET BACK TO ME asap and SOLVE THE PROBLEM (despite the cost of 4 'ruined' batteries, I will be selling them off for the small amount they are worth and NEVER GOING HP AGAIN

OK here is an update, Feb 2012 and my HP dv6000 which battery came good has now died again and it's back to the use only with the AC mains power adapter.

Like you said timmybuddhadude I guess you might as well sell them as I don't think HP will be solving problems for old notebooks.

I will use this one to play music, videos on via the TV where it wont need the battery.

I'll buy a new notebook for my work, now the only problem is what brand do I buy................. There are so many to choose from. I think it will be the brand that offers great customer after sales service.

Any sugestions on who that might be. Anyone?
