dv7 3060 - iPhone Sync issue

I have a brand new HP dv7 3060 us laptop pc, with an AMD Turion II processsor.

I have spent hours and hours watching my iPhone try and sync with the new laptop. It never synces.

I went to the Genius bar at the Palm Beach Gardens Mall today, and after spending 2 more hours there, they determined that they had no siolution. They said that HP would have to solve this issue.

So..Apple is pointing at HP.

HP is pointing to Micorsoft.

Microsoft is pointing to Apple.

Apple we're all screwed because nobody is solving this very basic syncing issue.

The iPhone doesn't sync withe Windows 7 !!

I really enjoy spending the past 2 weeks, watching the iPhone unsuccessfully synce for 8 hrs at work.

Now I'm getting the runaround from the "geniuses" at the Apple Bar....HP...and Miicrosoft.

Nobody seems to care....and nobody has anyone to escalate this issue to.

I cannot believe that people within these companies are silent to the issue.

Their silence is deafening.

NO...I don't want to load a new bios on a chip. My laptop is only 2 weeks old...and messing around with the BIOS car seriously and permanently screw the computer up. Take it from me, I used to work for a motherboard manufacturer in Silicon Valley. You don't want to start messing aroung with the BIOS !

So...which manufacturer is gonna have the balls to address this issue and get us a fix ??? .....and QUICKLY at that !

I'm all ears.

Re: dv7 3060 - iPhone Sync issue

Hi Tallclearwater - I hope you are reading the posts on the other hp forum that sethstor referenced.  Please take a look at http://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/board/message?board.id=General&thread.id=7001&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

as I have posted a lot there recently on this issue. Also on the Apple forums, at

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2157442&start=60&tstart=15

My most recent update is that HP says:

=== HP response starts here ===
This issue has occur with the third party software, we have special team Smart Friend of HP who works on third party software issue. Therefore, I suggest you to contact them to resolve the itunes issue.

Smart Friend 1-866-234-1377

=== HP response ends here ===

I have no idea if this will be useful, but we should all at least call.  If this doesn't work, my next tact is going to be to call the SF Chronicle and see if I can do an article, since they have already done one on the general issue with the P55 chipset.

Anyway, please chime in on those other forums.

Margie

Re: dv7 3060 - iPhone Sync issue - The never ending HP Support Idiots

Margie

Thank you for your feedback. just called the SMART FREIND line and it connected me with Banglaode India. I spoke with the first line person (who was clueless of any iPhone issues) and quickly escalated the issue up the ladder to the top supervisor "Muninder".

He couldn't help me either.

He said he could not share a "solution" with me unless I paid hios $59.99 for 1 issue over 3 days, to solve the issue.

I asked his if his solution is tested and proven by the HP engineering staff. He said "no".

I then asked him what percentage reliability that it would solve the issue.....70% ?, 80 % etc.

He couldn't guarantee ANYTHING.

So I then asked him why shoudl I pay $59.99 if I didn't know it would 100% solve the probelm.

I kept going aropund in circles with him.

His "solution" was not guaranteed for my model (HP dv7 3060 US).

I asked him if he bought a brand new car, walked out the dealer door with the salespeoson and noticed the engine was missing, would he feel ripped off.

He r tried to avopid my question .

So, I told him I feel ripped off by HP. The product DID NOT work as advertised and was not compatible with i/o USB of Windows 7.

Basically, since I purchased this HP model back in Nov 09, it has NOT been able to sync with the iPhone, everyone and their grandmosther with HP claims it;'s not an issue, does NOT have solution, yet they want me to give them $59.99 to provide supports, when they don't have a soilution.

Why don't they hold a friggen gun to my head, as they pull the wallet out of my dead hands ??

I have lost all respect for this company.

If anyone out there has a solution for all people who have a HP dv7 3060 US (AMD Turion II) laptop and iPhone syncing.....please, please, please email me or post thae solution on here.

I am growing wearing of pounding my head against the HP Support Team's door.

My only step left is to write Mark Hurd, CEO of HP and let him know how disappointing their product and customer experience has been.

HEEEELLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: dv7 3060 - iPhone Sync issue - The never ending HP Support Idiots

I have NOT gone to the HP website to try and update my BIOS.

I have not done this because none of the support personell, manager anmd supervisors I sp[oke with suggested that.

And if they did suggest that, I would ask them if that's a tested and proven resoltion of the issues I'm experiencing.

I worked for 2 motherboard companies in Silicon Valley... and let me tell you....the BIOS is something you really don't want to be messing with. It can screw your PC up forever if it's done wrong.

And since they didn't suggest it, mention it, or broach the BIOS, I would hesitate doing it until it was officially blessed by an HP support and bios engineer.

I find it very hard to believe that HP is ignoring issues of their customers who purchased the HP brand of computers.

They ignore compatibility with MS Windows 7

They ignore Apple iphone sync issues

They ignor possible solutions of BIOS updates

Their engineers should be working with their chip partners and bios partners to resolve this issue 4 months ago !

I am highly disappointed in the HP lack of a acknowledging that they have a problem....and disappointed in that they stionewall  their customers on this issue...and don't seem to be working on a solution.

If anyone who read this has a solution with the iPhone 3G syncing with the HP 3060 US laptop with a AMD Turion II processor chip......please email this message board with all the info for me.

Much appreciated.

Re: dv7 3060 - iPhone Sync issue - The never ending HP Support Idiots

In the bios is where the programmers submit their fixes. I suggest going there and giving it a try if it doesn't work then it is something up with your software for your iphone. Its always advised to keep your bios updated it fixes alot more issues then you might realize. As long as you insure that your nb is plugged in and you download and save the file and then run it it takes about 5mins so little window for failure. Its not like the old days when you had to get your sottering gun and hope like hell your computer works when you are done. Furthermore the bios is offered on the hp site as a customer download if it fries you computer and you are still in warranty it will be repairable under your warranty. If you do not trust my judgement then I would almost guarantee if you try a call back to hp just once more and you do have an agent that is aware of the situation then they will guide you through the bios installation process. Good luck!!
