the computer wont turn on at all. no lights are on and i know the charger works because i tested it in another laptop and it worked just fine. any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

As you say that you have checked with the AC adapter. Then perform the following step. Disconnect the AC Power supply from the NB adn aslo take out the battery. Then press and hold the power button for about a minute without the power supply and ac power adapter. Then connect the battery and Ac power adapter and then try to turn on.

 

If still that desnt work, take out the memory sticks from the back of the NB after disconnecting the AC power supply and battery. Then press and hold the power button for 120 seconds and then insert the Memory sticks back into the NB and connect the power supply and battery and then check.

 

If still not turning on the it could be a Hardwaer issue. Either contact HP or if you have warranty with any store get in touch with them.
