HP_NB_Man wrote:Hi, I am an HP employee and work in the PC division. I can tell you with 100% confidence that HP will continue to make notebooks. The PC division will either remain a part of HP, or spin off into a stand alone company that will continue to produce quality notebooks. If you now own an HP PC product, your warranty will be honored either by HP, or the new company, you will not be abandoned. We are the #1 PC maker in the world with over 4 Billion dollars in revenue each year. The PC division is healthy and as a separate company, we would be in the Fortune top 60 companies in the world. You have nothing to fear, we will continue to be a force in the PC world and soon be stronger than ever
Great to hear, and Thanks.
Many people I know think that HP is nothing but over priced and all your buying is the name.
I thought that for along time "BUT" now I know different, I was recently in the market for a laptop but all the offerings from other mfg's were few and the options were even worse.
So i started looking at an HP Pavilion g6 with all newer tech AMD/ATI Hardware.
I was told I was an idiot for buying it and that I'd regret it.
Nothing could be further from the truth "I LOVE IT" and wish I'd went HP along time ago, The options are fantastic, the fit of the case is awesome can't hardly see the seams on any of it, can't say that about most Laptops, the keys on the keyboard are the tightest I've ever seen as far as gap in between them.
Love the software, I upgraded the ram from 4gb ddr3 to 8gb ddr3 and it runs great even though the 4gb was nothing to sneeze at.
I said all that to say this Now I can see why HP is the #1 PC mfg in the world quality offerings, quality products = repeat business, And just For Others Information= some of those who said I'd regret buying my HP wish they had one.
After they seen how mine preforms.
Again Thanks HP and keep up the Great Work.... ![]()

Hi
Just wanted to say I've been a consumer of HP lab/test equip. long before they got into the PC world.
They have a great reputation. Now I own an HP dm3-1035dx and an HP dv6-3250us. I've never had any
trouble what so ever with these machines. The dv6 has a backlit keyboard and 5 keys on the left side
of the keyboard that can be programmed using regedit to do virtually anything with just a key stroke.
I certainly hope HP stays in the PC business...it would be a terrible loss for many of us if they decided
to jump ship. I've looked at the competition...Toshiba, Dell, Asus, etc. and in my opinion, HP is by far,
the best choice.

I agree whole heartedly, I've owned a couple of Acer's, several Dell's, A Toshiba for about 5 days before the Hard Drive blew and I took it back to Wal-Mart and bought my Pavilion g6 Laptop.
I had been wanting to get an HP for awhile but had a couple of people I know who had bad experience's with them so I shied away from them.
But when I took the Toshiba back I said I'm giving it a shot so I bought my Pavilion and haven't looked back since.
"IT's BY FAR THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD"---and I don't ever plan on getting anything but an HP again.
As you said all others Pale in comparison.

I am glad they will continue to offer support but........Will they continue to offer free online support for older computers? One of the reasons I have loked HP is that I can still use one of my older ones while mac's become obsolete. Will this continue? I am considering a new laptop but I intend to use it long term so free support options are a must if I make the investment. I live on a fixed income and was just about to recomend a hp to an elderly couple to help the stay in touch with family. I am not sure what to do at this point because I don't want to help them pick out a computer that will only get support for the warranty period or for a yearly fee.

The only thing I see wrong with your statement is that for them to build one liike an Apple is to price all of the computers they would make in the $1000+ dollar range.
And if they'd do that many like me couldn't afford a computer at all.
While I to would like to get an Apple I most likely "NEVER" will be able to unless they "APPLE" brings down the prices of the pc's they make.
This is why "APPLE" will never come close to cornering the market on computers because of the simple fact they are "TO EXPENSIVE PERIOD".....
I agree with you on Windows the OS Stinks to High Heaven but here again they Corner the market because they are cheap in turn comparexd to Apple.
I like Linux and prefer it over anything else.
But the problem here is again #1. Reason is they have a problem in one release it gets fixed two or three releases down the road.
Then a couple releases again the same problem returns for the same computers.
And don't tell me this doesn't happen because it has to me any number of times.
And no one will put up with that CRAP unless your hardcore.
I Grant you Linux or Unix is Great for your basic computing and business needs, and security with the two are out of this world "BUT" here again there isn't a whole lot Linux and somewhat Unix has to offer the average person can raelly use.
"UNLESS" you are into nothing more then Surfing, Business Apps, and watching videos.
