update BIOS & touchpad driver from hp.com/support, if the problem still exists then its a hardware issue

I have the same problem with my new Pavilion dv7. Reinstalled all factory settings twice. No impact. Keyboard and top cover replaced. This did not fix the problem. Tech support said they could not recreate the problem, but they only tested in "WordPad" not MS Office suite - MS Word, Outlook, etc.Now HP says the problem doesn't exist. Are you kidding me? What should me next step be?

I found this document very helpful.
I chose the second to last option to disable the TouchPad. This gave me the a traditional touchpad experience.
Hope this helps.
