my hp pavilion dm1 4000au is slow charging. HELP!!!

Got my HP Pavilion DM1- 4000AU couple of days ago. First time charging, I shut the computer down and let the power on, hoping after I woke up (it was a 8 hours sleep), my battery will be full. But it's only charged 45%. and then I use it till it was only left 15 minutes on battery. 2nd time Charging, I notice that my notebook is slow charging. It needs almost 4 hours only to charge 25% and there's no up-and-down indication of charging battery (like in other laptops I have), only "plugged in, charging)

is this normal? Battery life is so short!!!!!! Help!

Hi,

The first thing to do would be to check the status of the battery, which you can do by following the instructions here.  If the battery checks out as OK, then I would calibrate it using these instructions here.  If the battery is not OK, then you can follow the instructions given by the battery check utility.  

It wouldn't hurt to check your system BIOS version either, and see if there is a newer BIOS available for your model.  The latest BIOS looks to be F.15.  You can check your current version of the BIOS using HP Support Assistant under Troubleshoot --> General Specifications.
