opening picture attachments

A friend of mine emailed me some pics as an attachment which I can not open I get a message saying    this file does not have a program associated with it  for performing this action, create an association set association control panel  how do I do this ?    it is a CDR

It is likely that these pictures were either created or edited using a Corel program.  Unless you have one of these programs, you will have to ask your friend to use this program to resave it as a more common file type (such as jpeg) and resend it.

what is the type of file ?

Right click on file----> click properties and look for Type of file.
