option or registry hack to keep screen bright

My laptop machine is a HP ze4560us [bought new in 2003 still works like a champ] and I want to be able to instruct the computer to start up with a bright screen from boot-up while on battery power.

Currently when the power cord is hooked up the screen comes up bright, but when booting up on battery the screen is very dim until I hold the [function] and hit [f2] to bring it back up to normal. I am looking for an option or possibly a registry hack to force the computer to boot up with bright screen regardless.

Hey, I realize that it is this way to preserve battery so dont bother to warn about that. I have had this laptop for 5 years. I have already replaced the battery once since new  and decided that I want it to work the way I want it to. (..also have replaced the hard drive which finally crapped out, lotsa miles on that spinning hard drive!)

How about it HP gurus? Any way in the registry (or elsewhere) to force the box to use bright screen instead of power saver dim screen?

Re: option or registry hack to keep screen bright

Hello jay_folio,

They only way I can think of would be in the computer's Power Options, in the Control Panel ... and just set the power scheme to Home / Office Desk instead of Laptop / Portable ... check there and play with the settings. If you continue to have the problem, just post back and I will look into it a little more and see what I can find in reguards to a Registry Tweak or something ..
